Polk Approves $90M Contract to Widen CR 557 from Lake Alfred to I-4

Polk County commissioners approved a $90 million contract with Jr. Davis Construction on Oct 6 to widen 5.7 miles of CR 557, from W Alfred St in Lake Alfred to just south of the I-4 interchange. The project adds capacity, safer intersections, pedestrian and bike space, curbs and stormwater, and is due to be finished by spring 2030. A new signal at Old Lake Alfred Rd is due by April 2027.
